Welcome to Thinking by Making and our first Blog post. This is a start on a new adventure and I do hope you will follow us.
We will be uploading all our creative projects here – including free PDF worksheets for you to use. We have ten years of experience in running a wide range of creative activities so there’s lots to publish: short & fun projects for craft fairs and birthday parties, larger workshops for arts and heritage festivals, special science events, projects for schools, as well as project themes from our very own creative summer school.
These creative activities are generally suitable for children from about 5yrs to 11yrs. They have all been tried and tested with groups of children, and none use any dangerous tools such as craft knives.
Blog posts will also include tips on how to do things, advice on what materials to use, suggestions for learning more, and colourful photographs. The PDF’s are mostly black & white to save on printing inks.
We want you to get the most out of each activity so the projects involve many different aspects of learning all together – art, craft, design, technology, science, maths, history, communication and more. You can decide how much emphasis to place on each of these according to your circumstances – how much time you have, whether you are home educating, a party celebration, an activity club, or an event in an art gallery, etc. etc.
Use these projects to develop your own imaginative, creative journey for children.
Have fun!
